Manakova Calf Woe For Saarlouis
News details Saarlouis Royals may be without their biggest offensive weapon for the second leg of their EuroCup Women Semi-Final at Nadezhda with Petra Manakova having picked up a calf injury over the weekend.

The Czech international center got hurt in the clash with Halle and according to a statement on the club's website, "doctors found a small tear in the left calf".

"This is obviously another blow, especially as Petra has had a great season," Royals coach René Spandauw said.

"We're trying so she can play on Thursday but won't risk anything."

The club doesn't want to take a risk that could leave Manakova out of action for two to three months.

Saarlouis will need the Czech when they host the final round of the DBBL Cup on March 27-28, with USC Freiburg, WWK Donau-Ries and TV Wasserburg also taking part in the event.

Spandauw's side will also be competing in the domestic play-offs.

The 1.92 Manakova has averaged 18 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in the EuroCup Women.

She is expected to be in the Czech national team later this year when they host the 2010 FIBA World Championship for Women.

Saarlouis are staring at a six-point deficit against Nadezhda, who won the first leg in Germany 62-56.
